The Jazz Cellar is available for hire for private functions with Corner House Jazz Band. It is not available without the band. Private functions can be on any day except Friday, when the Jazz Cellar is open for our regular Friday evening gig, and Saturday evenings, as the band plays on Saturdays at the Railway Hotel, North Fremantle.
Much like a normal Friday night, the Jazz Cellar is not licensed to sell food or alcohol, however you can bring your own, or arrange your own caterer, order pizzas to be delivered or whatever you like. There is a covered area next to the cellar, which can be used for preparing food. This is not a kitchen but it has bench areas, which can be used for setting up.
Functions that have been held at the Jazz Cellar include many birthday parties ranging from 21st to 80th, leaving parties, coming home parties, Christmas parties, company functions, a Barmitzva, weddings and receptions.
The Jazz Cellar has an official capacity of 100 people, not including the band. If you want to be able to mill around and dance, a comfortable number is around 70. To make a dancing area it is best to take out three of the centre tables and their chairs. These can be stored in the ramp. You can also use the “spare” tables to form a serving table for food.
As each function is different we have compiled a list of basic charges and are flexible dependent upon the kind of function you are holding. In addition to the charges, there is a list of “responsibilities” for both you and the band which will be distributed to you upon your booking.
